2016 Goals Update: The Third Quarter

Three quarters of the year have passed, so it's time for a goals update! I've made my biggest achievements yet for weight-loss, growing my blog, and more!

Hello October! I’m not gonna lie – I’m so glad it’s fall! It’s my favorite season. Spring is just awful, but I have my reasons for saying that, and summer is just hot. Fall is perfect. The changing of the season also means that it’s time for a goals update! I’m super excited about this one – I’ve made my biggest achievements yet this past quarter, so let’s get to it!

Just in case you missed them, here are the first few posts about my 2016 Goals:

Now on to the good stuff!

Lose Weight

Let’s start off with the best news first, right? You might recall last month I published a post (including horrible before photos) when I decided to finally get real about losing weight (check it out here). Success, y’all. That’s what I have! Are you ready? 20 pounds down. TWENTY!!! I’ve been up and down a little, and I’ve been working at this for most of the quarter. I’m about ten pounds away from my overall goal, and I know I can get it now! Stay tuned next week for the after photos, and a really neat DIY weight-loss tracker for your planner.

Work Out 3-4 Times a Week

I’m going to say yes and no to this. When I’m focusing on my health and making sure I get my 10k daily steps, yes, I do squeeze in a few workouts every week. However, lately with this whole blog rebranding thing going on, I haven’t been as diligent about it. I’ll be glad to get back to it now. I’ve gotten pretty good at being creative about working out with the kids. 🙂

Be Healthier

Yes! Along with the weight-loss, I’ve been drinking plenty of water most days, drinking less alcohol (most days), and eating healthier. Even if I don’t get an actual workout in during the day, I’ve been pretty good at increasing my daily steps and staying more active throughout the day.

Take More Time for Myself

Not really. The twins nap in the middle of the day is still shrinking, so my me time in the middle of the day isn’t quite what it once was. What little bit of free time I’ve had has been devoted to making a million new images for the rebranding. I have gotten to spend some time decorating my planner, and that always makes me happy and relaxes me.

Get out of the House More

Yes and no. We had a really nice family outing day that involved a road trip to one of the bigger towns about an hour and a half away. We went to Michaels so that I could drool over fun planner goodies, and we had the most amazing cheeseburgers (yay cheat day!). We’ve also made it a point to all go grocery shopping as a family more often, but I still wish there were more places we could go close by for family adventures (the downside to life in a small town).

Grow My Blog

Yes! My social media accounts are steadily growing, and except for Twitter (which gets ignored a little too much) I’ve been more mindful of posting more regularly. I’ve also completely changed the look of the blog with a new logo and color scheme, and I really think it will help MWJ grow. I have great things in mind for next year! I’ve also expanded the benefits for subscribers. Have you joined the VIP list yet? Do it so you can check out the VIP Perks page!

Learn Photography

This is the one goal this year that I’m comfortable slacking on. I do make a point to read posts on Pinterest when they float across my feed, but I haven’t had too much time lately to take any more courses. Eventually I’ll get there.

Have Date Nights

This is technically a no, but it kinda feels like a yes. While Hubs and I haven’t really had any formal date nights, there have been several occasions when we’ve gotten the kids in bed a little earlier and enjoyed a nice dinner for ourselves. We’ve also been doing a few little things here and there to stay connected and keep our relationship a priority.

Overall, I’d say this was a very successful quarter. There are only three months left of the year, and I’m ready to get super-focused and knock these goals out of the park!

    • Thank you so much, Emily! The old look was okay, but it was just very bright. I wanted to mellow things out a little, and I love rose gold. I want to dip everything in it! 🙂

  7. Yay to you for being so successful! And way to go on losing that weight!

  8. Fabulous job with your goals this year! I’m sure you will continue to smash it in the last quarter of the year!

  9. Good job girl! I found that twitter was easier to grow than other social media, but everything takes time! cheers!

    • Thanks you! I agree about Twitter! It’s so easy to grow when you put the time into it, but I just haven’t been doing that lately. Poor Twitter gets ignored. 🙂

  10. You’ve seriously had a successful quarter! I need to make eating healthier a priority. It’s so important to start good habits as early as possible! Good luck with the rest of your year 🙂

    • Thank you, Rachel! Eating healthy is really starting to become habit. Once you get past most of the junk food cravings, it becomes natural to opt for healthier foods.
