I am not a morning person at all. It takes so long for my brain to wake up and start functioning. Since having kids, I don’t have a choice but to rise and shine ridiculously early. I’ve even started getting up about an hour or two before everyone else so that I can get things done in the peace and quiet. I’ve gotten a pretty good morning routine going, but there’s one thing that starts my days off better than anything else. And the best part? It’s not even something I do myself.

It’s no secret that I love coffee, and it’s a given that every morning I’m going to have at LEAST one cup of coffee, if not more. It really depends on what kind of night we had and how early I’m awake. But the best part of my mornings is when I don’t have to make the coffee. Sometimes Hubs surprises me and makes it for me. In my book, coffee = love!

Have you ever tried making coffee before you’ve had any? It’s never easy for me. “Did I put sugar in my cup already? How many scoops of coffee did I just put in there? Nope, I definitely forgot to put in the filter basket.” I’ve even accidentally poured egg whites from a carton into my cup before because it was where the cream usually was in the fridge. I’ve since learned to actually look at what I’m pouring in my coffee. So the mornings when I get up and I don’t have to think hard enough to make the coffee are always the best.

Sometimes Hubs brings me the coffee and leaves it on my nightstand when he leaves for work before I’m waking up. Other times he’ll fix it for me while I’m waking up the kids. My favorite is when he leaves my mug on the bathroom counter and I find it when I get out of the shower. It’s like I have a coffee fairy, but way better!

Bonus Tip for a Great Morning Routine:

Have really good coffee! We’ve recently been introduced to a small company called Lulu & Stir. Let me tell you, this coffee is delicious! I was sent a sample pack to try it out, and I’m sad that the pot is already empty! It’s delicious!

There’s a lot I love about this coffee, and it’s not just the flavor. They support small family farms, and the coffee is shipped within days of being roasted. When you order their coffee, you know you’re getting it fresh. It comes in five great flavors: Be Bold (dark roast), Be Brilliant (medium roast), Be Calm (Decaf!), Be Different (flavored – creme brûlée), and Be True (dark roast). Who could resist a coffee called Be Brilliant? Not me!

I’ve teamed up with the lovely Meg from Every Mom Day, and because we love all you readers so much (and the coffee), we’re doing a giveaway! It’s open to anyone in the U.S., just enter through the Rafflecopter box below! One lucky winner (chosen at random) will win EITHER a one-pound bag of Lulu & Stir coffee of their choice, OR the sampler (2oz packages of each).

If you don’t want to wait for the giveaway to end and you NEED your coffee now (let’s face it – we all do!), go here. This is Meg’s Lulu & Stir affiliate link, so when you purchase your coffee, you’ll be supporting her at no extra cost to you. (Yay for helping others and getting caffeinated at the same time!) You can get one bag, several bags, or you can enjoy the subscriptions service – place one order, and they’ll automatically send you coffee once a month so you never run out.

My Advice to You

The best thing you can do for someone to start their day off right is to make them coffee! Show them you love them by not making them think too hard first thing in the morning. I promise it will leave them smiling all day long. And try the Lulu & Stir coffee!

What’s the best part of your morning routine? Does someone make your coffee for you, or do you make their coffee? Have you tried Lulu & Stir’s coffee before? Tell me below in the comments!

About Samantha

I am a SAHM to three kids and a menagerie of pets. I love coffee, books, crafts, wine, cooking, and more coffee. Seriously, I couldn't function without coffee. Read more about me!

  1. Sitting down for 5-10 minutes and truly enjoying my breakfast for a few moments of piece is my favorite part of the morning. I don’t drink coffee, but I love the smell of it when I arrive at work and can definitely see how it is appealing 🙂

    • I’m still not a huge fan of mornings, but I do LOVE getting stuff done in the quiet before everyone else gets up. I’ve started setting my alarms for 5:30.

  7. I wish my husband made coffee for me, but he’s not a coffee drinker and he has messed it up whenever he has attempted. So the only other person making coffee for me is the barista at the drive thru Starbucks on the way to my son’s preschool 😉

  8. I am NOT a morning person! I have the hardest time forcing myself to get out of bed. I honestly wish I could be a morning person though! I’m all about the coffee in the morning as well.

    • It has taken a long time for me to get used to waking up so early. I honestly think it’s upped my coffee addiction! 🙂

  9. I don’t think my morning would start off right without my routine including a cup of iced coffee!

  10. The smell, the ritual, the sweet taste… there is nothing better!

  11. Neely (@Neelykins)

Coffee is for sure my favorite part of the morning!

  12. Even I can’t survive without my morning coffee, or afternoon coffee or evening coffee! After reading this, I just want to have another cup!
“Have you ever tried making coffee before you’ve had any?” This was really hilarious. I’m with you on this! 😀

  13. Coffee, coffee, coffee! I’m drinking some decaf right now (it’s 8:45 pm). Like you, I like to get my day started around an hour before baby girl gets up to have some time to myself. Thankfully, she gets up around 7:30 so I don’t have to be up too early! Thanks for sharing!

    • That time before the kids get up is just heavenly. And I love that I can wake up slowly and feel like a person before I get them up. And it’s never too late for coffee! 🙂

  14. My husband is the coffee drinker and I am the tea drinker. We both have pots that we can program the night before to start brewing at a certain time. I drink at least a pot of tea a day. Mmm. Good!
