As a mom, when you take a shower, I’m sure it’s one of those five-minute quick-rinses with a baby monitor in the bathroom while you play peek-a-boo with with your other child. Or you cross your fingers that Mickey Mouse is entertaining enough to keep them occupied for just a few extra minutes so that you can actually use some conditioner (and rinse it all out).
However, we occasionally need those extra-long showers. Do you remember those? The ones where you just stand under the hot water while the steam fogs up the bathroom mirror. The ones where you actually have time to shave your legs (even above the knee!). The ones where there are no baby monitors or cranky toddlers in the bathroom with you.
Well guess what, mommas! It’s time to start taking those long showers again, and I have the perfect incentive for you: coffee brown sugar scrub. It’s my new favorite guilty pleasure. I’ve read about them online before, but I never understood what all the fuss was about. Until now.
It only takes three ingredients, and less than three minutes to mix it all together. You probably already have the ingredients in your kitchen:
- 3 parts brown sugar
- 1 part ground coffee
- 1-2 parts olive oil
All you have to do is measure everything out, add it to a bowl, and mix it up. That’s it. That’s all it takes. Three simple ingredients, but oh the wonderfulness!
This is a body and foot scrub. If you want to use it on your face I would use a coffee bean grinder or food processor to make the coffee and sugar finer. Use it in the shower (that nice long, luxurious shower). Gently massage it on your skin, and rinse away all the dead skin cells. Bonus tip: use it right before shaving for super smooth legs! Step out of the shower with smooth skin. You’ll feel amazing, and you’ll smell like coffee!
You can make just a small portion at a time using tablespoons, or make a large batch using cups. Put it in a cute (airtight) jar and this makes an excellent DIY gift for any tired momma!
Taking better care of myself is definitely on my to-do list this year, so once a week I hand over the kids to Hubs and I run for the shower with my coffee brown sugar scrub. It’s relaxing and rejuvenating. This is the first sugar scrub I’ve used, and I’m definitely hooked. I can’t wait to try more recipes!

I usually make a lavender lemon scrub but I’m totally intrigued by this one. I love coffee–can’t survive a day without it, but the smell has always been a favorite.
